Antabio signs the Industry call for new antimicrobial business models presented at the World Economic Forum, Davos

On January 21, 2016, the Declaration by the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Diagnostics Industries on Combating Antimicrobial Resistance was launched at an event at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. This was drafted, agreed and signed by ANTABIO among 85 companies and nine industry associations from across the global pharmaceutical, diagnostics and biotechnology industries in 18 different countries.
The document calls for “governments to commit funding and support the development and implementation of transformational commercial models that enhance conservation of new and existing antibiotics, while improving financial and access-related predictability for both industry and health systems.”
In addition to manufacturers, eight industry associations signed the declaration. They include the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), the UK BioIndustry Association (BIA) and the BEAM alliance of Biopharmaceutical companies from Europe innovating in Anti-Microbial resistance research.
